Electronic Packaging

Each of the following services in RAM's product design program is an indispensable step in the development of a new product. These services are offered as a complete design program or individually, to meet a wide range of client needs and requirements.

Development Planning

RAM identifies and documents all of the tasks necessary in order to complete the program, then schedules the program milestones. At this point, we estimate the manpower requirements and the manufacturing costs, including costs of production, tooling, prototypes and models.

Industrial Design

RAM creates two-dimensional and three-dimensional concept studies in the form of sketches, exploded views, foam mock-ups and finished renderings. Our industrial designers identify and evaluate all of the ergonomic aspects that are likely to affect the product design. Then, we define the form, color, texture and graphics of the product, prepare the configuration layouts and model drawings and create the finished appearance design models

Engineering

RAM uses computer-aided engineering (CAE) to conduct engineering analysis, develop engineering concepts and verify the product design. For critical applications, our engineers use techniques such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to meet the design goals. We prepare three-dimensional CAD layouts, prototype and production part drawings. Then we research and specify raw materials and define the manufacturing processes.

Prototype Development

RAM oversees prototype fabrication of all piece parts. We assemble and inspect sub-assemblies and functional prototypes for mechanical integrity and manufacturability. In our testing facility, we analyze airflow, temperature distribution, shock and vibration behavior and other applicable environmental criteria.

Documentation

RAM prepares and updates all engineering documentation, including production part drawings, bills of materials and assembly drawings.

Tooling & Manufacturing Coordination

RAM assists in selecting the appropriate production-tooling suppliers. We review tool designs to ensure maximum yields and minimum costs, and direct the evaluation and debugging of new tools. RAM evaluates and recommends the most appropriate assembly methods and processes. Our engineers design and manufacture assembly tools and fixtures. We provide full engineering support for pre-production and production lines and facilities.
